County Commission to discuss state fund depletion aid
Finney County officials meet next week to consider using the Kansas Oil and Gas Valuation Depletion Fund as oil and gas valuation declines imperil county revenues. County Administrator Randy Partington notes several Kansas counties may qualify for a one year disbursement, with Finney County never having used the fund before. The 2005 fund exists to offset drops in mineral valuations after last year’s approximately $46 million decline in Finney County’s valuations driven by oil and natural gas, about 30 percent of total assessed value. The 8:30 a.m. meeting at the Finney County Administrative Center invites public attendance.
