Rugby club grows in Garden City as locals join Jackalopes
The Bike Rack in Garden City hosts the Jackalopes rugby club with players from diverse backgrounds. Captains and coach John Craig emphasize learning fast, full contact play while balancing training with other sports. Players like Domenic Varricchio and B J Hamlin share rugby roots from college and Hawaii, explaining the sport’s fitness demands and its appeal as a nontraditional athletic pursuit. The group meets Thursdays at 6 pm and every other Sunday near Horace J Good Middle School with outreach through a Facebook page.
