Longtime GCCC president Ballantyne to step down
Carol Ballantyne will resign as Garden City Community College president, effective soon, after a decade of major campus growth including housing, the Beth Tedrow Student Center, the Student and Community Services Center, new health programs, the Southwest Kansas Fire Training Center, and the Erdene Corley Simulation Lab. The college will search for an interim leader with help from the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees, while trustees plan public budget discussions and anticipate 2010 11 cuts. Ballantyne plans to return to Iowa after departure.
