Lilacs in June and a lone one room schoolhouse
Copper Harbor Michigan is a tiny, remote village where a single teacher Miss Howe runs a one room school. With 30 year round residents and snowfalls of 200 to 400 inches, pupils ride 35 miles each way to Calumet for high school. The story highlights isolation, dedication, and education beyond paved roads.
