West completes writing Buffalo Jones musical
Garden City lawyer West finishes writing a 30-piece score for a Buffalo Jones musical using Finnup Piano Lab and Carolyn Klassen for piano guidance. Phoenix Productions and Starcher in Gulfport, along with Denver help, created rough master tracks after West’s basic melodies proved too jazzy. West plans to select a director and premiere the piece in Garden City this fall.

City Board approves airport grant for taxiway at Garden City
Garden City officials earmark about 82,600 dollars of city funds for the fourth phase of primary taxiway improvements at Garden City Regional Airport. The project, bid to Klaver Construction, widens and thickens the taxiway to meet current needs and future plans. FAA will cover 95 percent of costs. Construction could begin in August and finish by November, with city spending since 2004 totaling around 363,200 dollars and FAA funding near 6.9 million dollars.
