Wright’s versatility lands Hornets new draftee Julian Wright
Hornets examine Julian Wright amid talk he could rival Magic Johnson in ball handling and vision. Wright, a Chicago native who averaged 12 points and 7.8 rebounds for Kansas, slots into a fast break and post-up role, with outside shooting less prominent. The pick may ease Desmond Mason’s contract outlook as free agency looms, while Nick Young and Al Thornton were noted as outside shooters elsewhere in the draft. Thaddeus Young went to Philadelphia at No 12 after Wright’s evaluation.
