Mays Wont Start In All Star Game

Knights defeat Dodge City 3-1 in non-league game

Garden City Knights of Columbus youth baseball beat the Dodge City Colts 3-1 on Tuesday. Stan Bieker allowed one hit and fanned 10 over the full game, while Robin Herrman provided Dodge City’s lone hit. Garden City had five singles with Willie Bergkamp contributing two. Next action is an 8 p.m. league game at Santa. The Knights compete in the Garden Invitational this weekend with sixteen teams.

Independence Day golf tourney set at Jaycee Airlinks

Area golfers can enter next Tuesday’s Independence Day event at Jaycee Airlinks starting 8:30 a.m. The meet features five events testing driving putting approaches and more with an overall champion and event winners. Towners Lose Close One 5-4 in 11 Innings

Guymon edged Garden City 5-4 after 11 innings in a Southwest Kansas League game. Garden City managed only two hits while four of Guymon’s runs were unearned. Melvin Rupp threw all 11 innings for Garden City, allowing two singles. The town team now stands 2-5 overall. Next game is tonight in Hugoton at 8:30 pm as part of the SWKL tourney prelim.
