Stevens County jail facility to open in November
Stevens County plans a 5.2 million law enforcement center across from the courthouse on Monroe Street. Construction near completion includes cells for 42 prisoners, separate male and female areas, interview rooms, a medical room, laundry, evidence storage, training space, and a one way bulletproof glass controlled jail office. County officials say the project, funded half by the county building fund and half by bonds approved in 2005, may also house inmates from other counties and accommodate existing sheriff operations.
