Harvesters in southwest Kansas push into wheat after stormy start
In Finney County Ken Jameson of Garden City Co op says harvest is reviving after last weekend's damaging hail from Hamilton and Kearny counties. Storms knocked down corn and delayed field work, with many custom cutters returning and a busy Fourth of July harvest hoped for. Grant County crews expect irrigated wheat harvest to begin soon with yields from 15 to 40 bushels per acre and test weights above 60 pounds per bushel, finishing in a week to 10 days.
