McPherson Hurler Keys Fifth-Frame Rally to Nibble Lead
With men on first and second, Farris and McPherson’s hurler fielded to first base, the throw to second went wide and Dan Ostlund scored to tie the game at five. The Jaycees squandered a ninth-inning chance as Snyder singled, moved to second on a walk, and Ostlund surfaced on a popup. In the 10th, Bergkamp’s double drove in the winner as Jones fanned and Fannen scored on a trailing hit. Texas golfer Rex Baxter Jr., after leading Trans-Mississippi, eyes NCAA title as he returns to Dallas to face collegiate challengers.
