Washington AP reports that only the East Central Black Hills portion of the Black Hills National Forest suffered flood damage after the June 9 event. Forest Chief John R. McGuire said about 80 percent of the forest’s 1,000 camp and picnic sites remain open and accessible for visitors. The region spans more than one million acres and flood effects were localized rather than widespread.
