Hijack and drain of 8400-gallon gas truck in Lakeland
Five masked bandits hijacked an 8400-gallon gas tanker at Jacksonville's Phillips 66 plant before dawn. They forced driver Frank Chaires into the cab, taped his eyes and mouth, and chained him between the front seats. The vehicle was abandoned northeast of Lakeland five miles away. Chaires later freed after a passerby heard the horn.
