The Kansas Forestry Fish and Game Commission released 35,000 fingerlings raised at the Meade rearing station and Sherman County Lake pond. Play began this week at Jaycee Air links for the Summer Industrial Golf League for men. Seven teams compete in a seven week round robin schedule followed by a two week post season. Merle Wiederstein returns as league secretary. Spencer's Market were 1968 champions with Garden City Jaycees second. both teams compete again along with Douglass Roofing Red's Gulf Station WKSG Foster Music and Garden City Monument Co. Al Valenzuela was last summer's medalist. Dallas Coen earned most improved honors. This week's first round includes Red's Gulf bye, Douglass Roofing vs Garden City Monuments, WKSG vs Foster Music, Spencer's Market vs Jaycees. Second round runs June 22–29.

Grace Craig Wins Invitational Golf Tourney at Garden City
Grace Craig of Garden City Country Club captured the annual invitational sponsored by Women of the Jaycee Airlinks. The one day event drew 18 players amid rainy, soggy conditions. A flight winners included Pat Steen and Velda Warden, both 96 strokes, with a four hole playoff deciding the title for Warden. Other flights saw Eva Marie Diggs, Vera Mae Wampler, Leola Doughty, Marilois Bach, and Bernice Anderson competing for top places. Grace Craig had the fewest first nine putts, while Velda Warden posted the longest drive on No 9 and the closest tee shot to the pin on No 1. Lunch followed the event.
