Body cameras coming to Finney County Jail
Finney County Commission’s budget session focused on department requests for 2015. Sheriff Kevin Bascue noted the sheriff's budget rising to about 6.24 million with a 148 thousand increase, most of which funds salaries and benefits. He suggested trimming his workers compensation line item, currently 105 thousand, by about 50 thousand. The increase includes about 100 thousand tied to the Austin Peters wage study. The panel also discussed 10,625 for the county share of a joint SWAT team with Garden City, noting current training gaps and staffing challenges.
