Milton Eugene Julian 81 of Johnson City died Tuesday June 13 2006 at Stanton County Long Term Care. Born July 24 1924 he was a third generation Stanton County farmer who lived on the family homestead. He served as church and school board member and married Katherine Marie Long in 1947. Survivors include wife Katherine son Rex and four daughters plus 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Johnson City with burial at Stanton County Cemetery. Memorials to church fund or educational fund.

SATANTA Vira Meador Winsted died at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation on June 14 2006. Born in 1906 in Forgan Oklahoma she attended Forgan High School and played girls basketball since eighth grade. She married Floyd Harlan Winsted in 1925 and lived in Satanta where she worked as bookkeeper at Winsted Implement and in a sister's drug store. Survived by three daughters seven grandchildren fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral at United Methodist Church Satanta with burial in Dudley Township Cemetery. Visitation at Haskell County Funeral Home Sublette Friday from 10 am to 8 pm.

Garden City Community College trustees unanimously approved a three year contract with faculty after smooth negotiations led by President Carol Ballantyne and negotiator Kent Kolbeck. The deal includes a salary schedule upgrade, extra pay for full classes, possible market value raises for technical field instructors, and annual raises of 3.0 to 3.5 percent through 2008-09 funded by salary budget alone. Ballantyne cited aims to keep salaries at about 85 percent of regional midpoints, with KG Associates providing salary data. administration building addition progress was also reported as ahead of schedule with a new Student and Community Service Center planned.
