Record Rain Streak Drenches Garden City Area

Almost five inches of rain have fallen this month in Garden City with 12 inches in 43 days, a possible local record. Weather forecaster Elihu Allman says moist conditions will continue across eastern Colorado, aiding crops. Miss Garden City Scholarship Pageant winner Jackie Settles will not attend the Miss Kansas Pageant. she has a $200 scholarship to the University of Kansas. Vote Set On Garden City School Bonds And JC Trustees

Finney County voters face two elections with polls open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Garden City District No 1 voters decide on a four and a half million dollar elementary school bond and elect three junior college trustees. County residents choose six trustees from 13 candidates, with the college board now under a county wide tax base and community college status. Garden City FFA Chapter Earns National Representation

Garden City High School's Future Farmers of America chapter was chosen with Arkansas City to represent Kansas FFA at the national convention next October.
