Garden City will host one of the nation’s first earth sheltered townhome projects named Terra Nueva. Developers John Bruno and John Lindner, with architect Jerry Weaver, plan 44 units on a 3.75 acre site west of Lions Park. Construction begins in 30 days, completion expected this fall, with units priced around 38000 dollars and monthly fuel costs potentially as low as 10 to 20 dollars, leveraging bermed earth around concrete walls to stabilize temperatures.

Finney County sees April rise in total employment and non farm jobs
Total Finney County employment reached 13,425 in April, up 475 from February driven by non farm gains, especially construction, and farm activity rising 100 due to warmer weather. Non farm wages rose to 10,100, with construction and trade adding workers. manufacturing and services also improved.
