Death of Hauff owner of Garden City jewelry shop
David I. Hauff 37 of 2709 North 7th died Wednesday at St. Catherine Hospital from a brain hemorrhage. He owned Hauff's Gallery of Fine Jewelry, born September 20 1943 in Sioux City Iowa, moved to Garden City July 1975 from Newton. Survivors include daughter Shelly and parents Warren and Mrs. Hauff. Funeral Friday at St Thomas Episcopal Church with graveside service Sunday at Hillside Cemetery Merrill Iowa. He was a member of St Thomas Episcopal Church Elks Lodge Newton Masonic Lodge Kansas Jewelers Association and Society of North American Goldsmiths. He enjoyed dog training photography weight lifting and racquetball. Burial in Hillside Cemetery. Burial schedule published by Garland Funeral Home.

Henry Espinosa, 20, was sentenced by District Judge Stephen Nyswonger to eleven years to life after pleading guilty to second degree murder for shooting Ernesto Rodriguez outside a local tavern last December. The case was part of June motion day as Nyswonger handled multiple defendants.
