Garden City hosts a Santa Fe track crew replacing worn ties from Cimerron toward Colorado Springs. The 23 men use machines to perform the work once done by gandy-dancers, with live-in railroad cars and some hand labor. Most workers hail from Las Vegas New Mexico and Ladonia Colorado, aiming to finish toward December.
