Kansas City AP cattle include 600 head with slaughter steers 26.70 to 27.20, heifers 23.20 to 25.75, feeder steers 25.00 to 25. Hogs run 3,000 with barrows and gilts steady to higher, 190 to 260 lb at 23.25 to 23.75, 250 to 280 lb 22.75 to 23.50, sows 20.00 to 21.00 for 400 to 600 lb. Sheep 100 head with choice and prime lambs 26.00 to 27.00.

President Johnson dismissed talk of a government split on economic policy after meeting top officials including Federal Reserve Chair William McChesney Martin. Syracuse Tribune area residents will see low level B 52 jet flights beginning in a few weeks. Three to four flights weekly will follow an FAA approved course at altitudes under 1500 feet and not lower than 500 feet. Flights will run for a year using Boeing crews from Kansas Cedar Bluff Reservoir to Boise City Oklahoma with minimal weekend flying.
Wichita attorney Philp B. Meloy pleaded guilty in U S District Court to failing to file his 1962 federal income tax return. He was fined 1000 dollars and placed on probation for one year. Dale Miller of Emporia and Ralph Braman of Leavenworth also pleaded guilty to related charges and awaiting pre sentence investigations.
Two Kansas members of Congress urged the State Department to allow cuts in Caribbean and Venezuelan oil imports. In letters to Thomas Mann and Dean Rusk, Reps. Dole and Shriver argued State policy hampers domestic oil producers and weakens national security, noting Kansas oil activity has fallen and imports rise.
A century old Victoria Hotel in Plainfield New Jersey burned in the early hours. Two people were killed and 18 were injured with four others missing. Firefighters recovered two bodies as they searched the ruins. Patrolman Robert Miller saved many inside before succumbing to smoke. Investigators suspect the blaze started on the second floor.
Roland C. Warden 60 died unexpectedly Wednesday evening at Trinity Hospital Dodge City after eight years of ill health. Born July 31 1904 in Ellis County he moved with his parents to Hodgeman County later marrying Verna DeFord June 1 1924 in Dodge City. They lived in Jetmore Ft. Dodge and he ran the Ft. Dodge Grocery. Surviving are Verna two sons Roland Ray Garden City Eldon Ft. Dodge a daughter Lola Davis Jetmore two brothers Roscoe Sallisaw Okla and Scott Los Angeles five grandchildren. The Rev Harry FE Blackburn will conduct the funeral at 10:30 a m Saturday at First Methodist Church Jetmore with burial in Fairmount Cemetery Jetmore. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at Davis Chapel Jetmore.
Lawrence Eugene Wray a 20 year old prisoner who escaped Polk county jail Bolivar Mo May 24 was captured Thursday by Topeka police. He surrendered after being spotted by an officer and was held on an insufficient funds check charge.
District Judge Bert J. Vance of Garden City is appointed to the Model Judicial Article Committee of the Kansas District Judges Association. Appointee chair Frederick Wolslagel, Lyons, cites studying the Kansas Constitution and proposing improvements. Other members include Harry Miller, Kansas City. Sam H. Strum, Newton. Walter E. Hembrow, Council Grove. Robert Sandon, music director at Shattuck School, Faribault, Minn., will visit Garden City alumni Thursday.

Michael Kerpan Jr. won the 38th National Spelling Bee, defeating 69 rivals. The Tulsa seventh grader correctly spelled larghetto with an extra word eczema to seal the title, while Judy Guarr of Topeka stumbled on the word. He is highlighted as an avid reader and top student with a noted preparation of 100,008 words.
The Town Highway Patrol ran a 125 mile relay to return a woman's purse missing after a Des Moines restaurant stop. Mrs. Tom Rogers of Hiawatha Kansas discovered the loss later near Cedar Rapids at the Amana colony. Patrolmen recovered the purse with contents intact and delivered it to Mrs. Rogers.
AP reports progress in highway safety as divided roads show far fewer fatalities during heavy holiday travel. On Memorial Day weekend 12 crash deaths occurred on divided routes, while national data place fatality rates on turnpikes and interstates well below rural averages.
A series of dismissals lists several residents including Mrs. Earnest Williams Wood land and Mrs. Dennis Wendel of Ingalls. Births note a daughter for Orval Ferris in Gardendals on June 11. A county fine for Virgil Wilcox overloading and a deed transfer in Crown Heights Addition are also recorded.
The Power Commission ruled that upward BTU price adjustments in natural gas contracts, based on heat content, are necessary and proper for Kansas Oklahoma and northern Texas areas. The unanimous decision adopts modifications of a 1964 examiner ruling, approving 233 applications from independent producers and setting a 1000 BTU per cubic foot base. Downward adjustments remain common. upward provisions help blend low and high BTU gas to meet market standards.
