Beef Empire Days events fill southwest Kansas weekend
Southwest Kansas hosts Beef Empire Days with a PRCA Rodeo at Finney County Fairgrounds Grandstand Arena kicking off tonight at 7 05 p m with family night and four tickets for 10. The rodeo runs 7 05 p m Friday and Saturday. Queen events include horsemanship Friday morning and a lunch and style show noon Friday with the 2010 queen to be announced during the Friday rodeo. Other Friday activities include a library story hour at 10 a m and Ottaway Amusements Carnival opening at 6 p m. Saturday features a 6 30 9 30 a m Chuckwagon Breakfast, 10 30 a m parade, 11 30 a m chuckwagons in Stevens Park, Windsor Hotel tours 11 30 a m 3 30 p m, and more. Governor Parkinson attends Relay for Life in Scott City Friday with a ham burger feed, speeches, luminary ceremony, and late-night events. Lake Scott State Park hosts events. Emmaus House hosts a car cruise-in 7 9 30 p m Friday at Western State Bank. A Masonic Poker Run starts Sunday with breakfast 8 30 a m and poker at 10 30 a m benefiting the Bachman Educational Memorial Fund.

Holcomb officials outlined chip and seal repairs on Mills Avenue North Lynch Street Larson Lane North Henderson Street Wiley Street and Ryan Avenue totaling about 36350 with work to start before next fall.
