Westbound US 50 400 traffic switch near Holcomb Garden City

KDOT and Ross Construction plan a 10 am Tuesday traffic switch to westbound lanes on US 50 400 from IBP Road west of Holcomb to Garden City. Intersections, overpasses, and the Big Lowe Road interchange will close briefly for up to 30 minutes. One eastbound lane will remain for about a week with reduced speeds. Final completion target is July 15.

New Kansas Arts Commission leader upbeat on funding

Linda Browning Weis, appointed chair, says private donations can sustain arts programs as Kansas faces the first state arts funding elimination. Garden City College Board OKs up to 99600 for kitchen upgrades

The Garden City Community College Board of Trustees unanimously approved up to 99600 for renovations to the 1968 Beth Tedrow Student Center kitchen. President Herbert Swender noted original repairs were estimated at 20000 as trustees toured the deteriorating plumbing electrical lines and a ripped concrete floor. An access trench runs across the kitchen space.

Tyson worker killed in plant stabbing

Tyson Fresh Meats officials confirm the death of Cesar Muniz, 30, who died from a neck stab wound at the Finney County plant after an on site incident with a 34 year old coworker. The sheriff’s office says both men were in the processing area when witnesses report a head bump led to the stabbing.
