Kings trade spree reshuffles Kings front office duo
Kansas City Kings coach Cotton Fitzsimmons and GM Jeff Cohen orchestrated a pair of deals trading Otis Birdsong to New Jersey and Scott Wedman to Cleveland to land top draft choices amid free agent pressure from Cavaliers owner Ted Stepien. Birdsong signed a five-year, 5 million contract, Wedman was moved for Cleveland's No. 17 pick, and the team shed extra salary amid a deep draft. Cohen cited economics and salary concerns as the motive, with the Kings retaining two first-round picks and a second-round pick.
