Kansas Democrats Face Topeka Convention Showdown
Kansas Democrats gather in Topeka at the municipal auditorium for a Saturday convention pitting entrenched leadership backing Miami Beach delegates against a McGovern faction led by Dr Marvin Harder. The outcome will decide national committeeman and committeewoman posts and five additional delegates for the July 10 Miami Beach meeting. Governor and Mrs Docking host a Friday picnic at Cedar Crest to ease tensions as party workers dispute strategy and potential pro McGovern delegates.
