Fishing Takes Big Upswing At Hamilton County Lake

Hamilton County Lake near Syracuse Kansas has risen to its highest level after recent heavy rains. The 94 acre lake, completed in 1955, sits in a 432 acre park and now attracts anglers with abundant catfish and improved facilities. Local Jaycees, led by W C Daugherty, built brick fireplaces and a concrete boat ramp while ongoing efforts aim to shade the area and boost recreation. Publisher Mickey James of the Syracuse Journal hails the lake’s rapid fill and good fishing prospects as the area benefits from upstream ponds and the spillway level.
