Gambling and the Kansas Supreme Court Gambling Case
The Kansas Supreme Court will hear the appeal on whether slot machines fall under the bingo or gambling law. Attorney General Vern Miller contends slots aren’t bingo by law, while State Rep. Robert Talkington argues the Legislature intended broader coverage. The outcome hinges on Kansas anti lottery provisions and July 8 decision day. An era of political calculation and public sentiment surrounds the case, with bingo supporters arguing charity and public welfare.
