Eleven contenders vie for Miss Garden City crown
A preliminary for Miss Garden City begins in Garden City and builds to a Saturday climax. Eleven Southwest Kansas contestants compete with Sherri Archibald presiding as guest, in Clifford Hope Auditorium, where Wandee Kay Klein and Mimi Frank Wickoff look on. The event, the biggest and last of its five year run, feeds into the state Miss Kansas pageant in Pratt and then Miss America in Atlantic City.
