Citizens tweak nuisance proposal in Finney County

Finney County Sheriff candidate Bob Becker urged county commissioners to work with citizens on a trimmed nuisance resolution. Becker, who faces Kevin Bascue in the August Republican primary, praised the citizens committee for reshaping the plan by excluding inspector entry to private property and narrowing inoperable vehicles. The group approved a tweaked version with a six to two vote, now headed toward more changes before page A5.

Kansas farm incomes rise as farmland values soar

A Kansas survey from the 2002 Census of Agriculture shows only 10 percent of farmers earn all household income from the farm, with many rural families seeking outside jobs. Average farm value per farm jumped by over $88,000 and per acre rose to 687 dollars, while 21,632 Kansas farmers are women.

Select group plans school finance review

Former guardsman bound over on sex accusations
