Garden City will host a Thursday night farmers market downtown with Heroes Way and Seventh Street closed 4 to 7 p.m. from next week through Sept. 9. The move aims to attract new shoppers and bolster downtown traffic without competing with the Saturday market near Fleming and Harding. City officials expect retailers to stay open later and for nightlife to grow in the downtown area.
