Progress in Moscow hay fire shows tentative gains
Weather aided containment of the Moscow hay bale fire that began Tuesday with preliminary findings pointing to lightning as the cause. Winds eased on Thursday and Friday, allowing piles to self burn out while crews shift to monitoring as 22 to 25 mph winds with gusts to 35 mph threaten renewed spread. Fire Chief Carrell Munson notes shorter piles burn faster and that the effort relies on natural conditions rather than water.
