Warning Light Puts Jet Down in Kansas City
An American Airlines Boeing 707 with 38 passengers and seven crew made an unscheduled landing at Municipal Airport after a warning light in the No 2 engine suggested fire. Mechanics later found an electrical malfunction in the warning system. Flight 7, from National Airport to Los Angeles, was diverted. Passengers transferred to a second AA 707 to continue. The landing occurred near midnight, delaying the trip by 1 hour 40 minutes.
