Program helps troubled teens start new lives in Lawrence
Lawrence AP report describes the Heart of America Teen Challenge program in Douglas County. Gabe DeLapp, a 24 year old graduate, credits the program with turning his life around after past drug use and burglaries. The nonprofit uses a four month Lawrence house near O Connell Youth Ranch. Participants split firewood and perform cleaning or handyman tasks to build work attitudes before moving to Cape Girardeau for further Bible study and employment in related services.
