Welch resigns from Women's Clinic to join Manhattan group

OB/GYN Maura Welch will leave The Women's Clinic in October to work for Women's Health Group in Manhattan, citing family proximity. Her last day is Oct. 6 with start date Nov. 1. The clinic faces ongoing tensions with St. Catherine Hospital over obstetrical privileges. Current patients with due dates on or before March 1, 2007 may still receive obstetrical care through the clinic.

Japan approves resumption of U S beef imports

Rookies seek Finney County District Five seat in county race

Finney County voters see three candidates Jones Linton and Holcomb vying for the Republican nomination for the Finney County Commission District Five seat. Incumbent Holcomb was appointed in December 2005 to replace Alan Fankhauser. Linton, 45, is a Garden City Community College administrator and instructor seeking the seat alongside Jones who was appointed in 2005 and co owns J O Cattle Co. The district faces questions on the U S 50 West project with costs rising from 24.8 million to 80 million and local funding set at 3.83 million. Local voters approved a 5 211 to 4 067 56.2 percent quarter cent sales tax in November 2004 to fund the project locally, while state and federal funds cover the rest.
