GCCC trustees mull 2 mill drop in budget plan
Garden City Community College trustees approved a budget for publication showing a 2 mill decrease from 21.527 to 19.5 mills amid a Saturday meeting and budget retreat. If approved, property tax on a 100000 home in Finney County could fall about 23 dollars next year from 247 to 224, with the Front Door Project on a Sept. 21 election likely to seek public support. The change stems partly from oil and gas valuations rising by nearly 80 million this year.

Local resident Jason McDaniel returned from Wichita with his son Ethan Noll to enjoy the small town atmosphere and support the event.

In August USDA allowed low risk meat imports including boneless beef and veal. Since 1986, 147 people worldwide have died of variant CJD.
