District to consider mill levy increase for USD 457 budget
USD 457 board members will discuss the 2010-11 budget Monday with superintendent Dr. Rick Atha. A 3.75 mill levy increase is proposed as assessed valuation drops 8 percent to more than 289 million. The budget totals 47.12 million, up 17,653 from 2009, and the district plans a 48.95 mill levy. The board may publish the budget later and will consider a Sunflower Electric Power Corp. support resolution. A negotiated pay rise for teachers adds 905,681 in cost, funded by savings and higher local option budget receipts.
