In Friday action at the Kansas Amateur golf tournament Len Johnson Jr. the top seed lost 1 up after 20 holes to Travis Engel No 17 Jim West won 1 up over Jason Sigler Bryan Schweizer defeated Casey Harbour 1 up Trent Brown beat Alex Montgomery 1 up Charlie Santalaria beat Simon Thompson 6 and 4 John Walters defeated Brent Vuillemin 7 and 6 and Jonathan May won 5 and 3. Johnson 32 beat Brent Pawlus 5 and 4 then defeated Josh Polsinelli 4 3. West fired a 65 foot birdie on 18 to beat Andy Stewart 1 up and also beat Michael Roberts 3 2 in the opener. Top seeds mostly advanced but Marty Sallaz and Bryan Norton were upset in the second round. Casey Harbour edged Norton 1 up. Bryan Schweizer upended Sallaz 1 up after parring the third playoff hole.
