City to hold public hearing on Garden City budget 2016
The Garden City Commission will hold a 1:15 p.m. public hearing Tuesday at the City Administrative Center on the proposed 2016 budget of 104 million dollars. The proposed mill levy would drop to 36.703 mills from 37.6, with reductions of fire, police, parks and court budgets offset by sales tax gains. City Manager Matt Allen cites a balanced approach and adds four general fund positions in police and fire. The agenda also includes zoning changes for churches, rezoning at 1614 Taylor Plaza, and a review of the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program for Garden City Regional Airport. A pre-meeting is at 11 a.m.
