County agencies brace for budget cuts in Finney County
Finney County commissioners at July 10 proposed trimming budgets for the sheriff and county attorney to keep the mill levy flat amid an expected 20 percent rise in county health care costs. The sheriff’s $5.8 million budget would lose $125,000 and the county attorney’s $1.4 million budget would lose $50,000. Sheriff Kevin Bascue noted a $98,000 vehicle purchase line item and a $9,000 equipment installation cut. Commissioner Dave Jones said the aim is to shield taxpayers from higher health costs while preserving services.
