The USDA Farm Service Agency states that 2008 DCP signup ends September 30. DCP uses base acres and payment yields per farm with direct payments set by statute, while counter-cyclical payments act as a market price safety net. Advanced payments may be requested. Farms with 10 acres or less face payment exclusions unless wholly owned by disadvantaged or limited-resource farmers. Owners and agents with prior FSA-211 power of attorney must file new forms for 2008 programs. Contact county FSA for details.
