Hearing set in fight over coal plants in Kansas
Sunflower Electric Power Corp seeks court action to advance two proposed coal-fired plants in Finney County. After Health Secretary Rod Bremby denied an air-quality permit, six legal challenges arose, with two in Finney County District Court. Judge Philip Vieux will hear on Tuesday whether those cases should be dismissed. Sunflower hopes dismissal allows remaining challenges to proceed as legislators’ attempts to pave the way for the plants were vetoed by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.
