On Pine Ridge Reservation S D White Plume and family pursued industrial hemp from 2000 to 2002 but raids and court battles left them in debt. Despite losing a key appeal the family remains hopeful Congress and state licenses may revive hemp farming, with White Plume planning to restore the operation if permitted.
