Man Dies After 25 Years Inert From Motorcycle Crash
John A. Avila, 49, died after spending more than a quarter century motionless and speechless from injuries in a 1975 motorcycle crash. His mother Elaine cared for him daily until her 1994 death, and sister Karen Cleveland recalled her devotion. Avila could hear and see but could not move or speak. His father Salvadore expressed sorrow and relief at the death.
