GCCC Trustees mull 1.5 mill tax hike amid budget pressures
Ballantyne outlines 2008-09 plan starting from last year’s $15.59 million general fund budget and trimming other costs while facing rising electricity gasoline and postage. The plan includes 72 faculty raises, possible 2.5 percent staff raise, and a shift to full individual health insurance with higher rates. Trustees weigh reserves versus a mill levy increase as assessed valuation remains uncertain and state funding could fall.
