Bed tax worries for Garden City hotels on council agenda
Garden City commissioners weigh chartering around state limits to create a 2 percent city bed tax, lifting total within city limits to 6 percent with county tax. The move faces hotel opposition and would fund capital projects for recreation, parks, zoo facilities and possibly Buffalo Dunes and the Big Pool. Public protest and a two thirds vote, plus 60 day waiting period, may follow.
