Kansas lawmakers push to block lesser prairie chicken listing
Kansas Republican delegation again seeks to block the Fish and Wildlife Service from enforcing a threatened listing for the lesser prairie chicken. Rep Yoder with Huelskamp Jenkins filed an amendment to H R 2822 to prohibit using funds for the listing. The effort follows a previous vote approving a similar amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act. AWA findings show 25 percent population rise across five states, with estimates up to 29,000 birds in 2013 to 2014.
