Wheat harvest nears 70 percent completion as rainfall and weather affect yields and test weights. Ken Jameson of Garden City Co op notes 4.1 million bushels collected across 18 elevators, down from last year’s 4.5 million. Jerald Kemmerer of Pride Ag Resources cites test weights slipping from 60 to 58 60 pounds per bushel in regions serving Ford, Gray, Finney, Hodgeman, Lane and Ness counties with yield variation from 15 to 60 bushels per acre.
Finney County Commission approved a 2015 budget proposal of 37.29 million with a 39.041 mill levy, down 0.026 from this year. Public hearing set for Aug 4 at 8 40 a m as further adjustments may occur. the plan increases general fund to 15.23 million and raises projected taxes to 20 658 806 from 19 470 211, amid higher valuation including a 12.5 million oil and gas rise.
