City budget cuts avoid higher mill levy and boosts housing incentives
City commissioners approved a lean budget plan reducing retirement system contributions to 12.86 percent and trimming 50 000 from sidewalk projects to 50 000. Parks landscaping funding was cut 88 500 due to no water source, Lee Richardson Zoo exit 42 500, and 5 000 for computers. Saved funds will back housing incentives totaling 60 000 to spur development with a proposed program offering 3 000 to 6 000 for new homes and rental units.
