Drought lingers despite storms in Kansas
Kansas storms over the past weeks have eased drought pockets but western farms and rangeland remain affected. Climatologist Mary Knapp cautions that while rainfall improves prospects for fall crops, some areas still face severe to moderate drought. Officials note Gulf moisture brought variable downpours, aiding crops like soybeans and corn, yet waterlogged ground limits field access and may raise disease and weed concerns if wet conditions persist.
