Garden City home restored and moved to Finnup Park
The Burry family house, moved in March 2002 from 404 N Seventh St to behind the Finney County Historical Museum, opened for a grand tour as restoration by Southwest Construction, funded by fund-raisers, reached completion after a harsh start. Local residents Hart, Sanverno, and Jarmer praised the project and its historical value, with John Helton leading the hands on work and museum director Mary Regan noting the initial deterioration. The home will be open during museum hours 10 to 5 Monday through Saturday and 1 to 5 Sundays.

Kansas GOP pushes new plan to curb court power
Republican leaders in Kansas pressed a fresh proposal to limit judicial authority after a court order to boost school funding by 143 million dollars. Unable to secure a two thirds vote for a money appropriating amendment, they shifted to a proposal barring courts from directing funding decisions. Democrats and some conservatives criticized both approaches as overreaching, while calls grew for an August or September statewide vote on any constitutional change.
