Com crime appears to be on the Rise in Garden City according to statistics provided by the Garden City police department. In the first four months of 2015, the Cpd made 924 adult arrests which is 193 More than for the first four months of 2014 and 108 More than for the same time Frame in 2013. Police crime analyst Tami Sauseda said in the first four months the department worked 206 burglaries and thefts combined compared to 69 incidents for these two crimes during the first four months of 2014. We have had a lot of crimes for burglaries we worked on Sauseda said in explaining Why the 2015 total numbers for the first four months Are much higher than for the same time period in 2014. In the first four months of 2015, Garden City has had two cases investigated As homicides five reported rapes five reported robberies 30 reported aggravated assaults and four reported Auto thefts. The aggravated assaults were nine More than in the first 120 Days for 2014 and 15 More than for the first four months of 2013. Looking at 2010 and 2011 numbers there were a combined 128 aggravated assaults for those two years. Sauseda said the increase could have been the result of More gang activity in those years. She said there has been Little gang activity so far in 2015. According to the crime statistics report for the first four months of 2015 compared to the same time Frame in 2014, murders Are up by one rapes have decreased by two robberies increased by three to five incidents while Auto theft and arson remained close to the same from the previous year. According to the statistics there have been 122 criminal cases assigned to the courts so far in 2015, with 2,142 follow up contacts. The number of search warrants so far this year dropped from 92 in 2014 to 62. The Cpd also has been issuing More traffic citations recently with 173 this year compared to 128 in 2014 for speeding 62 compared to 70 in 2014 for parking and 54 compared to 30 for driving under the influence. There were 2,126 traffic warnings Given out by officers this year compared to 1,375 warnings for the first four months of 2014. In the first four months of 2015, 199 juveniles were detained a decrease of 21 from the first four months of 2014 and 53 less than police see increase in crime through first four months of 2015. Garden City has received about 11 inches or about an Inch More than Normal. Hutchinson has received about 15 inches of rain for the year which is still about an Inch behind Normal. Rain in Holiday forecast More rain is in the forecast today. Rain was falling in Osborne county this morning a Farmer reported. Much of this area of Northwest Kansas has a 70 percent Chance for rain according to the National weather service. Hutchinson has a 70 percent Chance for thunderstorms. Southwest Kansas has a 50 percent Chance of rain. Holiday weather also Calls for chances of rain through monday. There is a 20 percent Chance of rain in Hutchinson on july 4, with a High around 90 degrees according to the services Wichita office. Sundays High is expected to reach 94 degrees. The weather service shows temperatures hovering around 90 degrees for much of South Central Kansas Region this weekend.
